SPEAKER_02

I had to make some really firm hard decisions. And I did. I made them. And I made them with the help of my best friend and my husband, my whole family. You know, you make these hard decisions of saying, okay, my cup's empty. It's time for me. Welcome to Worth the Walk, where two sisters chat about generations, raising kids, and family life with honesty, heart, and plenty of laughs. No perfection here, people, just real conversation as we walk it all out together. Let's get started. Well, Sherry, I can't tell you how much I missed you. I missed you too, Claudette. Glad to be back. People know that we're sisters and we live in the same vicinity, but I haven't seen you like once since our last broadcast. And my heart hurts. I miss you. I missed you too.

SPEAKER_00

It's been rough. It's been a rough go, everybody.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But here we are.

SPEAKER_02

It's been a real rough go for you. There was a point when I I did come down to see you where I was going to throw you over my shoulder and take you to the doctor myself. I know. Enough of this foolishness. Let's go. Yes. But you came through the other side. There you are. You're a little little coffee still, but it's man. You are oh, I feel like a 99% feel like a million bucks compared to where I was like this time last week.

SPEAKER_00

Even this time, I mean, we're we're on week three. Well, this is week four. I've been sick sick for like three, but this is I know. Look. I know. Onward and upward. I'm not dwelling either. Let's we do not dwell. Bigger, bigger, better things coming here.

SPEAKER_02

So we're so for all of our listeners out there, today is a whole conversation about healing. And the reason I picked healing is because you had me worried. We have to do the healing. And how did we get so sick? And why do we get so sick? Sometimes we say it's just a virus, or sometimes it's just a very full plate, an empty cup, as they would say, right? Or the cup is so full it's overflowing and it's just flowing in the wrong direction. Or as you've indicated to me, my cup may have some holes. Yes. I think I have holes in my cup. I did once say to you, there might be a crack or two in your cup. Look, look, my cup's doing all right. We're okay. Yes, we're all right. All right, so here we are, and it is a beautiful Sunday morning. Cannot tell you how pleased I am with everything that's growing around me.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, look, I had the garden tour this morning, folks. Let me tell you, there has been some work. My goodness, you and John have been so busy. Busy, busy little bees, and the garden is really, really coming along. Looks so good.

SPEAKER_02

I'm just so proud of my vegetables. So all of my vegetables I've planted or my herbs, they all look beautiful.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I just need to intervene for a moment then. So I know John has peppers out there. I'm gonna tell you, peppers. They're sensitive to the frost. They I know. So make sure those babies are covered up in the next like two weeks. I know. Sorry, I just had to say it out loud before I forget because we're all over that as well.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. So yeah, and my basil has to be covered up. All my other stuff doesn't need that thyme and sage and my peppermint and all of that's out there, it doesn't need to be covered. It's a hardy plant. And same with my spinach and my colour things. That doesn't need to be covered. So I did use my my AI genius to help me with some stuff. So as I move through it. So we have to use AI every once in a while, everybody. Well, I guess you don't have to, but I choose to. Why not? I choose to. All right. Totally. All right, so so what has been going on with me uh over the last couple of weeks? Now I'd love to say what's been going on with you, but I know you've been taking care of yourself just the way you're supposed to. Laying down, getting rest, drinking herbal teas, um, taking all the right vitamins. You've been doing all the right stuff.

SPEAKER_00

So you're right. I have been taking care of myself. I'm and for folks, I'm I'm just gonna say, like, I I literally was so sick. There was about a week where I couldn't even kind of walk around my home. I was literally in bed or propped myself up in like a sitting position, um, really, really sick. And uh Charles's father, God bless him, he's he's past now, but he was my father-in-law, and I've been so blessed with amazing in-laws. Charles' dad, Dave, uh wonderful, wonderful man. And I found a tin of this ointment that I know he gave to Charles years ago. So I'm quite confident it doesn't expire. And I've developed an unhealthy relationship with this ointment now because I can't go to sleep without putting it on my chest. But it's got some weird, it's like um, it's a medicated ointment, and it's like McClarence, McCullers, McClur's something. It's got very funky little tin with this green and beautiful pattern on it, and it's has um menthol in it too. And I rub it on my chest every night and I put peppermint oil on my hands, and I have pepper, I'm covered in peppermint oil and this sticky ointment. But this ointment just makes me feel so good. So I just wanted to give a little shout out to my and it makes me think of my father-in-law, so nice. Yeah, but I'm so interested. Really, my my few weeks have since we've taken a little hiatus just because I had been so sick. But I want I I need to know about what you've been doing. I feel like you and I haven't connected.

SPEAKER_02

Well, we haven't. I've been trying very hard.

SPEAKER_00

Fill us all in. I want to hear. Tell me, tell me, tell me everything. Girlfriend, tell me it all. Tell me it all.

SPEAKER_02

Don't leave anything out. Give me all the details. The the I tried to not bother you too much because there's nothing worth being ill and your phone dinging, and someone's saying, How are you? And you're like, the same as, yes, dear. Yeah. I I tried to do that. And the days were rolling into each other. So I had no concept. So, what have I done? So I found um a healthy relationship with the yoga lounge in Shubanakini. I gotta tell you, I'm in love with it. Um, I'm going again tonight, and I'm taking the under the stars. Um, she has the stars. Is it outside? No, it's inside. So she has the music going and the lights are low with candles. I'm just picturing June bugs flying in like you're like trying to do a downward dog, and the june bugs are slamming into the back. The stars are reflected on the ceiling. Uh, the lights are gorgeous, the the music is just so soothing. You bring your blanket and your pillow. She puts a weighted blanket on you with heated rocks, and you she does a guided meditation for uh 60 minutes or probably 70 minutes about that. Um relaxed is not even the beginning of how you feel at the end of it. Like your body just melts right into yourself and you just release everything that's going on in there, and then you slowly stretch for another 10-15 minutes to sort of wake yourself up and uh move around and and get into it. So that's that'll be I'm doing this again. So I've already done it once and I'm doing it again. And then I've also taken mindful yoga with Cindy at the studio, the lounge, I should say it's not studio, but man, that was great. So I'm I'm so for those who don't physically know my my true appearance, I'm not actually like really a yoga fit body. But but this is not an insult to me because as I'm working through all of this, I plan and do have a hope of dropping off some weight and getting better at it. So this mindful yoga at any stage of your beautiful body, you can do yoga.

SPEAKER_00

You can do anything.

SPEAKER_02

You can. So this mindful yoga is now reminding me how much I like to hold long stretches, and that's what this is. So it's not the typical yoga where you do a whole class and at the end of it you've got this whole sweat going and all of that sort of stuff. This is let's say a dozen stretches over an hour and a half, and each one you hold for an extended period of time to breathe correctly, feel it from your toes to your nose, um, be in touch with everything that's happening in you as you're stretching. Like, what part hurts more? What part feels good because of it, right? And it's so mind-opening, mindful yoga, that you realize, oh, well, I'm stretching wrong. I I if I just move myself this little bit, oh, I it doesn't hurt nearly as much. And I've gotten a little bit further than I did before. So it's beautiful. So I'm doing that again on Tuesday night with City. It is beautiful. I love it. And then I have another class coming up, the sister circle again at the end of the month for the new moon.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, they need to find a new name because I feel guilty not going. It's a sister circle, and here I am, like, you go, girl. Good for you. Like, no, sister, go sister.

SPEAKER_02

Like, no, it's not a sister circle because she doesn't have her sister with her. Anyways, so I have been invested in that. All right. So, and I'm loving it. So then I decided, well, I'm going to invest a little bit more in myself for opening up. So I've been doing mindful yoga at home, not so much the stretching, I'm doing the meditation portion, right? I have it on my phone and I walk through. So I try every single day to find a place to do this mindful meditation, not mindful yoga, mindful meditation. Um, and I do that at home by myself. So I've been trying to do that every single day just to release all of the stuff that's going on inside of me in my head. So I had a physical with my doctor. Remember, I told you I had enormously bad high blood pressure for a few days in a row. And I don't have high blood pressure, even though you and my other sisters would say it's hereditary, and yes, you do. Well, I don't have high blood pressure. But if I hold in my stress, if I'm stressed and I do not speak of it or try to let it go, it builds to a point where my brain and my body says, Well, we're either going to make you pay attention to something or else you're gonna fall on the floor. It's one of those two things for pay attention. So I went and um had a physical. I am in exceptional health. I have been told that I should lose a few pounds, but that's okay because it's not a shock. I was not like, oh, really? Oh, I was just so perfect. It wasn't that at all. I know I need to, my cholesterol is phenomenal. My blood work came back fantastic. And I did not have high blood pressure when I was sitting there talking to her. Perfect. So just wait. I know. So she said, You have stress, high blood pressure. So you get stressed, you get high blood pressure. You need to deal with your stress. So I told her what I was doing, and she said, Well, that can't be any more perfect, Claudette. I love this. You're not gonna get any medication from me, which is what I like a doctor to say when it's correct. So want everybody understand, I'm not telling you to not see your doctor, not take drugs.

SPEAKER_00

I'm telling you, I want to get to off blood pressure from like I've been taking blood pressure medication now for, I mean, almost 10 years, and I I don't want to. And the longer you take it, the worse. I mean, I'm I know it's doing its job because I don't have a high blood pressure, obviously, and I it's working, which is great. But then also it's like, well, can I just try to go off it and just see what happens? But when you do your blood pressure spike so high. So it's it's like the rock and a heart place. No, and it's what I'm checking in.

SPEAKER_02

EKG came back fine. So so you have to have all the stuff done before the doctor will say you don't need high blood pressure medication, right? So there's nothing the matter with my heart, right? My heart does not have any unusual pumps or any unusual activity happening with it. My cholesterol is fine, my my fit, my blood work came back great. So I'm not going to go on blood pressure medication, but I am going to take my blood pressure every single day at the same time. And once a month for the next six months, her and I are meeting. She's going to take my blood pressure and we're going to compare. I bring my machine in and she'll look through that and we'll make that decision at that time.

SPEAKER_00

It's like a good plan to meet. So here's one thing that becomes very um obvious, like as you're talking about your health and your journey and yoga and all of that, is um when we talk about this one step better, too, because we started this one step better. I call it a challenge. It's not really a challenge, it's really more of things that we do or things that we want to take on to become better for ourselves. And this one step better is that when I've been so unwell, and I mean, we're three, three full weeks, right? That I have been so unwell, it means that I haven't had time to think about what I can do to like better myself, other than just looking after myself. So, and I, you know, and I felt really guilty. Like I remember feeling like terribly guilty when I I'm trying to like come up with a concept of like what I what can I, you know, add or what can I do to become one step better? But really and honestly, I just felt so miserable that all I could do was, you know, I'm I'm going to work, I'm doing my, you know, my role at my office, and then I come home and I'm looking after my family, and then I'm so tired. I just need to go to bed because I'm tired. So really looking after myself by going to bed, getting extra rest. And then when I became so sick, it was just evident I couldn't, I couldn't take on any of those things. I was literally in bed all the time anyway, for a week and a half. I was just in bed. So when you're when you're not operating at 100% or when you're not feeling your best, it's very difficult to take a one step better to become or take on things to like improve yourself or or grow or become spiritually full. I mean, it's it's obviously now I'm I'm kind of coming out on the other side of things and I think about, oh, I finally feel well enough. It's like, okay, I want to, you know, I want to go for a nice, really nice hike next week. And I really want to go see a part of, you know, a hike in a province that part of the province that I haven't been to yet, or go to a class, or take on some things. But, you know, talk to me three weeks ago, and there was no way that stuff was gonna happen.

SPEAKER_02

Well, how about if we segue into our topic for today with that? Because I let you speak. I did not want to interrupt you in any way, but we're gonna segue into our cup. And I've like uh I sent you and producer Dan uh a little bit of what we were gonna talk about today, and I how I wanted to go into it. And we got so we're also videotaping our little session here today. Hello, world. Um, and I got a little post-it notes around because I don't want to forget the meaning of everything that I'm saying. So your cup, your your cup is in four quadrants of your body, right? So we'll go through the four essential things for a cup to be full, not full, kind of full. And is there something the matter with my peppermint tea? Not at all. Oh that's good. I'm gonna tell you.

SPEAKER_04

Well, now we have to stop our conversation. You know they'll put their smile in the who puts their mug to their nose for peppermint tea. Is it too strong?

SPEAKER_00

No, I had a whiff of something else in the peppermint tea. So it's good. It's all delicious. It just was peppermint plus another element, and I don't know what it is. That's why I'm sorry. I didn't mean to throw you off. I'm here for the cops in the quadrants.

SPEAKER_02

So we may have to shut our windows though, because the manure's going across the fields here today. Well, it's been all weekend, it's been going up and down. Yes. So if it happens, this we'll have to pause and we'll close our windows and turn the fan on. Okay. Because it's a little too rich at moments, as they would say. Good right now. I know. All right, four essential parts of our cup, all right? So you've got your physical, your mental, your emotional, and your spiritual. Um when you are ill, like when you are out, like you are on your back, you are done. Like you don't want to be doing a physical fill of your cup. Your physical fill is to physically look at you, and that's filling the cup, right? Physically saying, I won't do anything today because I'm gonna honor who I am and I'm going to care for myself. You're not going to do the emotional part of your cup where you're trying to give somebody else some emotions out to somebody. You're going to give all those emotions to you. Your soul, which is your hobby, um, you know, what what gives you joy spiritually. Well, you're giving that to yourself by laying in that bed and filling your cup up with, okay, today I'm going to focus on um resting my legs because they hurt from trying to get up. I'm going to focus on my chest and put more more of my my father-in-law's cream on me today. Right. So you, even though you say that, you know, you couldn't do something, but you did. You did 100% give you what you needed to get better. And that's why you're better. Yes. Right? So that's why. So today we are going to talk about, you know, the cup and how to fill it um when it gets drained, right? So I can think so clearly of when my cup was completely drained, and I'd given every ounce of everything I had to somebody else, right? Um, you know, the the the heartache I had to go through many years ago uh with you know a member of my family to give, you know, all that support, like everything I had to make sure that like everything went to that. So when I came home to try to care for anybody else, I was drained. Like I had lost way too much weight. I was smoking cigarettes, I was staying up late, and I was drain, I wasn't helping anybody. I wasn't helping the person I wanted to help. I wasn't helping myself, I definitely wasn't helping my husband, right? I wasn't helping anybody because I thought I was doing so much more. But then the world and your universe says to you, you know, you need to wake up. Something's gonna happen and you need to wake up. When your cup is that drained and that empty and cracked and broken, the world is gonna say smart. Not I say the world, but let's say whatever, right?

SPEAKER_00

Well, I think there's a moment that that this when you're giving and giving and you're at a point where you can't give anymore, the world, and I'll say the universe will show you, if you weren't here, what's going to happen? If you weren't here in that moment and giving to this person or situation or individual, what's gonna happen, and and chances are that that individual or that circumstance is probably gonna just keep continuing happening because you're you're giving and you're giving and you're giving.

SPEAKER_02

But so mine, which I find it was like this pivotal moment, right? I'd given all I could to a situation and I was trying so hard to be the best at something. I wasn't looking at me. I didn't think about me, I didn't think about my cup, I didn't think about, I was just everywhere but me. And I was driving down, this all was in Ontario when I lived there, and I was driving down my road. So I was trying to be at a meeting that I had to be in because my position I was at. Um I needed to terminate somebody that day. So I was thinking about that. The person that I needed to care for, I hadn't heard from in quite some time. Uh, I had a husband at home who was just like, you know, this isn't working, and blah, blah, blah. And I had that happening. And so I had all of this in my head. It was all going on, all these voices, and they're all like this, and I had to get home. And I said, Oh, I better get to the store because I need to get some, you know, fruit for Joshua and whatever. I had to go, I had to go and get all this stuff that was absolutely important. And I was driving and I was so consumed with what was happening up here that I didn't even pay attention to the road around me. It had nothing. And ahead of me at the set of lights, there was a major car accident in front of me. And I could see it from the distance. And I thought, oh, I can't get caught up in that car accident. It'll delay me by five or ten minutes. And every minute counts to get back to my office for that meeting because I had to terminate somebody, and I had all of this going in my head. So all I did, I knew I know those roads very well. I knew that I was coming to a side street on the left that would have taken me around the mall so that I could have gotten to the grocery store. All I did was cut and I turned my car to the left, and I was right in front of a truck. It hit me side on, drove me up the street, all the airbags go off of my car. I mean, it was the cars was an instant write-off. And I just sat there and it was four like five minutes. I thought, okay, that makes sense. And I got it together, and all of that happened, and I made major, major life changes at that moment. I know it doesn't sound like it's real, like, but somebody's gonna wake you up sooner or later. They really will. And it's either forceful, like writing off a car that couldn't afford to write off, right? And I I could have seriously hurt the person I drove in front of, right? I didn't. Their truck was much bigger than my car, and I didn't, they were not harmed, right? I suppose scared for all I think. But what if? But you're thinking if, right? So I mean, I went directly in front. It wasn't like I kind of slowed down and little hit the like I literally t-boned. Like, I mean, I literally, right? And it was a hundred percent my fault. There there was no saying to the police when they came and the ambulance when they came and all of that to say, Well, what happened? I just looked at them and said, I didn't look. Like, what did you want me to say? Like there were there were no words. I mean, there was no walking away and making it a different story than what it was. Right. I didn't look. I was not thinking. about anything except uh exterior.

SPEAKER_00

There was no internal thought what you had to do, where you had to be, who needed you, what you needed to get, where you needed to get back to.

SPEAKER_02

The cup was so empty and crushed, I couldn't even do anything. So after like I was sore. Like three weeks of baby, I hurt. From a toes to my nose. I hurt. And I had a lump on my head the size of a football. It was huge. Went to emergency and had a CAT scan and all that sort of stuff. But I mean it was like I had a headache for three days. Right. So I was smashed right into the steering wheel like as hard as you can go. I mean of course I my neck was sore my like everything was sore. And it gave me lots of time to think about okay, what needs to change? And at that moment in my life I had to make some really firm hard decisions. And I did. I made them right and I made them with the help of my best friend and my husband uh my whole family. You know you make these hard decisions, right? Of saying okay, my cup's empty it's time for me.

SPEAKER_00

Did that person get three extra weeks of work?

SPEAKER_04

Sorry that's the first thing I think nobody else had to fire them. Oh that's too bad.

SPEAKER_03

Someone else didn't have a day you kill me unfortunately.

SPEAKER_02

No there got no that did not that they did not uh they were not successful in that particular okay so the thing I'm trying to get to is your cup has got four spots physical mental emotional spiritual right all of them need a space. Sometimes a little bit of your cup goes down emotionally maybe if there is a sadness that comes to you right or a moment just like our mom passed and our anniversary was you know just yesterday it came through and you're thinking to yourself um you know actually it was Friday I'm sorry about that. And you get sad. But because your other areas of your cup are so full and so strong it helps you with that. And you can't deny the sadness. You got to walk through it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh and time does wonders like there you know everyone time heals and I don't I don't actually believe time heals I think time just gives you um the perspective like I think time time like there's lots of lots of painful wounds that are still fresh for people over a long period of time. So I I don't I don't buy into this whole time heals business. I buy into that time gives you perspective time gives you chance to to add other layers onto what you've experienced to make things either easier or yeah a different view right yeah so I mean all of those things but the reason I brought up that very uh moment so because because that moment means a lot to me because I I can bring it back into my head as to like why did you change that?

SPEAKER_02

Because I'm like I've told you this since we've started this right I'm not the same person I was 10 years ago. Right I'm not I'm not that person. Right. I'm actually not the same person I was 20 or 30 years ago. No right however but I'm not the same person drastically because of needing to wake up needing to find out you know why am I here? Is there a reason and how do I acknowledge it inside of me giving me joy and acknowledging that I'm allowed.

SPEAKER_00

Some people never some people never have have that some people never and I'm gonna talk about mindfulness because I think mindfulness is that element where you you are mindful about where you currently are and where you want to be or you aspire to feel or be something different than where you are right now. Or there has to be something different than what I'm experiencing right now. Or there has to be something different than what the events are in my life that how I'm reacting to them or how they're happening. There's got to be something different about that. But some people never I I I believe some people never ever have that thought of what I'm experiencing I could I have the power within me to experience it differently or view it differently or react differently. Some people don't ever have that yeah so I mean so hey high five to us I mean yeah like come on I love learning new stuff.

SPEAKER_02

So for me the ability to look at the world much differently than I did over the fast past even five years, right? Looking at the world differently just gives you a whole new it's like visiting a new city all the time.

SPEAKER_00

I hate that saying that it's so true. It is true. You have we have no idea what you don't know. I know and I want to know I want to know what I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I know I I want to know what I don't know exactly we both want to know what we don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I get it have a new logo know what you don't know and you don't know there's so many ways to um so before I go into ways to fill your cup uh let's talk a moment about I'm gonna say women and mothers mothers and women I'm gonna say women in general always feel so selfish if they take care of themselves right the one who wants to go to the gym instead of uh for three hours or two hours you know maybe I should stay home with my toddler my my toddler or maybe I should do this. There I I wish there was a way I could just sh shake all women and say stop it. Like take care of yourself.

SPEAKER_00

Do something I I used it was more prominent though when you and I were raising our children. Probably I do feel this next generation of these young moms. Yeah I I don't think it's as big as a problem as it was.

SPEAKER_02

It was oh I don't know I could be wrong and I really would love some young moms to reach out and tell me if they stuck with a feather for an example and my daughter right who both feel very guilty or um you know if I could just squeeze that in at that moment then I can get back. But stop trying to squeeze things in right make it your time and don't feel bad about it. Don't you get your hair done or get your nails done or go to the gym or or go to mindful yoga or go for coffee with a friend. Yes or go for a walk all by yourself. Nobody find those moments that fill your cup and be so happy you did it because the person who comes back to take care of the tired baby or the rambunctious you know three year old or the uh burnt toast and the you know bad coffee and the no groceries and the floor's not scrubbed you've got the ability to look at that and say well I'll get to that tomorrow. It's okay. I've filled my cup up I've got the energy to enjoy the beautiful humans in front of me and we'll find some other way to do something different instead of holding it all in until you get hit by a car, right? That was a bit exaggerated. But don't hold it in metaphorically metaphorically speaking so it's take the time and so now going with that how do you take the time so there's power breaks you can take and it you know you don't need six hours to go in at a massage getting a six hour massage is actually remarkably great. But you don't need to do that you can take five minute breathers right which is literally sitting on your deck or your front yard or your backyard or whatever you've got around you your patio your balcony and and taking five minutes let the sun hit you no noise five minutes breathe in breathe out being mindful.

I'm gonna say when I was and I don't know if you were like this or not but when I was raising my kids and I they were little and you know at that point when it's your busiest the kids are literally you know you got one or two in diapers and a couple of other ones are involved in you know there's after school sports or whatever I my cup would be filled when I had a day when I like the kids were you know dressed we got somewhere on time I left a little early so that like I was notoriously famous for okay guys we're we need to be out the door right now. We should have been out the door 10 minutes ago please like let's go let's go let's go let's go let's go and I'm always pushing that envelope but if I had a day where it was like okay we're gonna start half an hour earlier we're gonna get dressed I'm gonna make myself a coffee at home so I don't buy one because we were always pinching our pennies and watching our pennies when we when our kids were little so I'm gonna I'm gonna make myself a drink at home maybe it wasn't coffee it was like a tea or I made myself a cold drink and I put it in my nice little to go because heaven knows I got a heck of a lot of cups to fill up at home with those reusable cups grab one of the thousands that are there put a nice little limited in it the kids would I get in the car we get to where we're going a little early um I'm seeing my girlfriends and then we get home and like bedtime was like a breeze. I would go to bed at night thinking oh my cup felt full I just felt like today was a day where I was a good mom. I had it I had it going on. Yeah I did what I needed to do I got to where I needed to be I got there with like enough time I wasn't like flying in with the kids you know one shoe on one shoe off you know there was a lot of those days too but I feel like those days when I had everything kind of just like I'm gonna get myself together enough that I'm gonna I'm planning so you know I planned a healthy meal ahead of a time of leaving for somewhere that made me feel good you know just being present and it's like all that mindfulness like if I look back now some of my best moments were the moments where I was mindful. I was mindful of getting somewhere on time or showing up with all the gear I needed to to make something happen. And then I'd be like oh like I did it like I that that was my accomplishment and that made me feel good. That filled my cup. So taking taking time for myself is obviously important. Like you know there was a moment like I took plenty of hair appointments and I never did my nails or anything like that when the kids were little but I always I always had something that I like to do on my own and I would try to do those. But some of my best feelings of being full or my cup being full was those was those moments.

SPEAKER_02

And I can relate I can absolutely relate with John working afternoons and me working days and I would work very long shifts if I had to right and then you know four and a half years between you know my son and my daughter he was already into all of the activities where she was still too young. So I was constantly the mom that said we got 30 seconds to get to the car and that's so yeah I look back on it all now and I think how unfair to a two-year-old to say you've got 30 seconds is 30 seconds a day or is it a night? Is that next year? What what is the what's the concept of 30 seconds? It didn't mean anything right um so when you know my daughter and I were working with Joshua I had the timer right I mean the beauty of being a grandmother who's a little more in tune with what's happening to her compared to the 30 year old who was bad she crazy. I thought most of the time as I ran out with two bags and a hockey bag and tripped over the floor and told the dog to feed himself and ran to the you know you know had the timer going you have to go and if we leave I am leaving with what's in the car and if we don't have it I'm sorry but that's what's going to happen. And those concepts were very different right but very proud when there was the day that I had the hockey on time the figure skating was on time meal was cooking in a crock pot I already ate I ate three meals that day right and you I came home and I was thinking wow what an amazing day and it wasn't the day that you got anything done yeah or the five minute breather or the any other type of care.

SPEAKER_00

You did what was in front of you well. You did it well and you felt like I got this like I feel great because I everybody got what they needed. Here's the thing too is like so those cups those moments where my cup was full I realized my kids' cups were also full because it's like they they got what they needed too right and didn't have a frazzled mother or father right in front of them yanking them from point A to point B and didn't bring anything to entertain the poor little girl who has to sit through a hockey game who now has to sit there staring out because you brought no drinks and no books and no there wasn't tablets.

SPEAKER_02

So didn't have tablets and phones.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna go like full circle here for a second. Look and this is a mom strict strictly a caregiver concept is that my cup can be full when yours is yeah that's true right I I oh another high five for Sherry on that one because that was a good one.

SPEAKER_02

Bring it home. Yes when you've got those kids who are just glowing because of whatever happens if your cup is full mine is full. Yeah that's good yeah so for those out there just pay attention to your cup that's the theory of today that's the story behind today is pay attention to your cup and your cup can have some cracks in it. Yours don't I know you told me no you told me mine had holes it does it was leaking out you weren't paying enough attention a lot of stuff leaking out of me but anyway it was usual. Okay cough and pee sneezing pee sorry that's a little much all I'm saying for all everybody out there is pay attention to your cup. Please don't let it get empty yeah if you're feeling um not physically in tune with what you're happening but your your emotions and your spiritual are doing good then get out and get some fresh air but if you've got the fresh air and you're still a little bit sad or emotionally just not all there, take the time to figure out why is it the sit by yourself? Is it talk to a friend? Is it you know call a relative? Is it um listening to Worth the Walk? Is it whatever it happens to be but find out what it is.

SPEAKER_00

Find your four your four little sections of your cup which are physical emotional mental and spiritual now spiritual can be anything for you I'm not stating that it has to be some sort of um uh religious thing it can be anything that brings your soul happiness right absolutely yeah so yeah that's so one step better are we gonna try yes I feel like um we've got a little happy little band of merry little walkers who want to be better at things so much better yes than the walkers yes merry little walkers my merry little walkers so um for me honestly I I do have some plans this week um like I said I want I want to go on a nice hike so and this is gonna bring us around to our theme for next week too so so that is my my one step better is I'm gonna get out into the world and I'm gonna continue looking after myself so that it's uh I'm a hundred percent 110 next week. Yeah. And so I'm I'm piggypacking off of yours because I'm gonna kidnap you.

SPEAKER_02

All right we're gonna do an herbal or a natural walk.

SPEAKER_04

Oh that sounds an herbal natural wink wink wink what what do we do? No we are absolutely not in any way doing anything even close to that.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna be so disappointed because I've got the app on my phone and we're going to find out all the plants that are around going on an herbal walk with my sister they're gonna be like are you smoking pot in the woodship what are you doing let's find a new babe we're not gonna do an herbal walk we're gonna do an all natural walk and we're gonna find the we're naked lord help me with the babe because we're not we're not gonna be naked and we're not smoking mushrooms none of that is happening we're doing an unnatural walk on we plan it's doing an unnatural okay I'm gonna work on the name because that's not the name but I've got the app on my phone we're gonna go find what's growing in the woods in around us that we can um cultivate this is gonna be interesting I'm so glad you told me ahead of time oh this is gonna be good I'm gonna document the whole thing I can't even uh begin to thank you anyway so that's what we're doing next week we're gonna do a walk and we're gonna find what's growing around us and we're going to be able to see if we can cultivate it because I did my own yard and there are so many things. I've actually picked the purple nadles that are growing and I've got them drawing in things. Love that I know so so we're gonna do that okay okay I'm down so lovely you know I've also got my yoga that's going on but now that's not even a a a walk journey for me because this now I've it's not a one step better because it's part of your route that sounds good routine now. I found it I liked it I'm gonna continue that's great that's great. So walking finding uh plants that are growing around us that have nutrients that are literally right in front of our nose right there right in front of us we didn't even know that okay okay I hope we have a very very good Wi-Fi armor out there sweet.
